One of Dingle's most famous pubs, local landmark The Dingle Pub on Main Street, has launched a ground-breaking new website which is set to promote Dingle on a global scale and revolutionize pub promotion in Ireland. Proprietors Tom and Susan Geaney developed the concept of this new type of community-based, interactive website alongside website creator Michael Lampel and the feedback so far has been amazing. Contained in the website is the 'Dingle Community Module' which allows people to create their own profile on www.thedinglepub.com , connect with friends, share videos and pictures, read Facebook and Twitter updates and much more. Incentives are also available to those who register on the site such as regular drinks vouchers give-aways, with up to 50% off the price of a pint! Other revolutionary concepts www.thedinglepub.com includes are up to the minute news (streaming news updates from local news site www.DingleNews.com), weather information, maps, information on activities available on the Dingle Peninsula (from www.DingleLive.com) a currency converter for visitors and a section dedicated to keeping an eye on the price of a pint. The website also contains traditional information such as the background of The Dingle Pub, one of Dingle's most legendary 'watering-holes' and their unique brand of in-house 'craic' which has been a hit with visitors and locals alike for many years. Along with that, visitors can access information on the Dingle Pub's B&B accommodation (in the town centre). Website visitors may also view an online menu from their restaurant, which actually opens up like a real menu, offering excellent visibility and accessibility to the user (check it out at www.thedinglepub.com). "The idea behind this website is two-fold" explained website creator Michael Lampel, a native of Germany, who in his main occupation a poker professional, divides his business between Germany and Ireland (thanks to the direct Frankfurt-Hahn flight services offered at Farranfore). Michael has been a regular customer at The Dingle Pub for 10 years. "It allows people researching their holidays the chance to discover Dingle and also gives them access to events, currency, local news, events...basically everything they need to know" he said. "With the community model, it also allows both locals and visitors to chance to inter-connect; in the same capacity that Facebook and Twitter has allowed people to post profiles." "We hope it opens up a new world for people in terms of interactivity on the Internet; making the 'local', global in a sense." “With this new website we hope to promote Dingle while at the same time giving people access to all the services available at The Dingle Pub” added proprietor Tom Geaney.
